Zach Long | Chair

My name is Chief Zach Long. I am a husband and father of four, with two of my children living here in the city of Savannah. My commitment to serving the community began at age 15 when I worked as a lifeguard. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to public service—working in two Departments of Corrections, serving in the U.S. Army with a deployment to Iraq in 2005, and working in law enforcement since 2009.

I began my law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff in Holt County, later serving in Nodaway County as a Deputy Sheriff, as well as in Maryville as a Police Officer and Sergeant. I am now honored to serve as the current Police Chief of Savannah.
